AI Furniture Desin accelerates the creative process at Interlude Home

Interlude Home is a renowned luxury furniture brand from the USA, known for its fashion-inspired designs and high-quality materials. From sculptural armchairs with brass frames to elegant acrylic benches, the collection combines timeless aesthetics with modern craftsmanship.

During the design process, the team faced a key challenge: how can new furniture designs be visualized quickly and convincingly without having to draw each perspective individually or take elaborate photographs? Particularly in the early ideation phase and in communication with manufacturers, there was a lack of an efficient tool to clearly convey design intentions.

This is where Mazing came into play with its AI-supported image technology. Interlude Home and Mazing teamed up to rethink the entire workflow from the first sketch to the finished AI product images or lifestyle images with the help of AI furniture design.

The key points of the collaboration between Mazing and Interlude Home

  • Sketch-to-render – from design to photorealistic product image: The starting point was a hand-drawn sketch of a new armchair. With the help of Mazing AI and targeted prompting, this sketch was transformed into a photorealistic product image. Precise material specifications – such as brushed brass for the frame and soft velvet for the upholstery – resulted in a convincing rendering that took the design concept to a new level. Particularly impressive: further views were automatically generated from the final rendering.

  • Render-to-styled image – from product image to lifestyle scene: As soon as the final product rendering was complete, the process went one step further. By importing reference images (such as a modern marble fireplace backdrop) and existing Interlude Home products such as the Wilton Table, complete AI scenes were created. Two armchairs in front of a marble fireplace, complemented by matching accessories and decorative objects: Scenes that would normally require an elaborate photo shoot were created digitally.

  • AI fabric swapping – digital fabric visualization in seconds: Another use case showed the enormous potential for Interlude Home’s COM (Customer’s Own Material) program. Using an existing product image of the Tristan Bench, it was demonstrated how the AI digitally applies various fabrics and materials to the piece of furniture – from short shearling to beach loop foam and Pierre Frey Saqqarah fabric. This means that retailers and end customers can be presented with countless material options in a very short space of time.

  • Materials & Mood – AI-generated mood boards for collection presentations: For the preparation of collection presentations, the team used existing material images as a starting point. The Mazing AI transformed a styled product photo into an illustrative interior sketch with labeled product callouts. At the same time, existing material flatlay images were enriched with additional accessories, hardware elements and fabric samples. The result: a professional mood board.
