One area that is undergoing a particularly exciting development is retail, through the use of augmented reality (AR) and 3D modeling. We spoke to the three founders of Mazing, an IT start-up from Vienna, about how our shopping experience will change permanently in the future.
AR integrates digital content such as animations and images into reality. When we use the camera on our smartphone or look through glasses, we not only perceive our actual surroundings, but also digital objects that are integrated into our field of vision. A well-known example is Snapchat filters such as dog ears that are placed over the face when taking a selfie. VR, or virtual reality, is not a synonym for AR, but a completely virtual experience, i.e. a world from a video game. Drawings are brought to life in 2D with the help of 3D modeling.
