Augmented reality (AR) is the enhancement of reality with virtual objects. Manufacturers of VR glasses – such as Meta with the Quest series of glasses and Apple with the Vision Pro – rely on this concept, while the mobile game “Pokémon Go” has been the undisputed leader of this technology on smartphones since 2016: if desired, the pocket monsters can also be seen as animations against a real background.
